When was the number 1489 painted on the inn sign? Was the first Götschihaus already on its new place 2 years before Bruder Klaus died? It cannot be said. However it is certain that in 1649 the then alderman, judge and subsequently governor Nikolaus built the new Götschihaus. 1649 is still engraved above the entrance door this very day.
During many centuries the house was the property of the Götschi family. In 1859 Marie Götschi married Franz Britschgi. The marriage remained childless and the following generations run the then widely ramified self-supply establishment under the name of Britschgi. The troubles of both world wars and the changes in society also affected the welfare of the hotel.
1958 the Britgschi PLC was founded. In the following years the house saw many alterations and enlargements. However the old basic fabric was no longer adequate and in 1990 the old building was replaced by a new building. Previously the hotel was bought by Josef Leitges. After the great storm in 1997 the hotel remained closed for many years.
2005 the Schappe PLC, a subsidiary company of Eberli & Partners General Contractors PL from Sarnen, bought the hotel Kreuz. The building was renovated and re-opened in May 2006.
